Meet Her: Faith Angasa, The Leading Architect Of Magical And Admirable Events/Parties

So, last week I mentioned how I had attended the YALI East Africa Leadership program and the female trailblazers I had met including Bisharo Ali Hussein. I promised to bring to you more amazing ladies and today, I am more than honoured to introduce to you a lady of virtue and simplicity who continues to challenge and encourage me personally, the founder of Showers Of Blessings , Miss. Faith Angasa.

There is a lot to learn from this iron lady when it comes to resilience and using your passion to create a profitable venture.

Faith Angasa has three years of experience in the Social Economic sector, currently working for ERM (Environmental Resources Management, a Global Consulting Company). However, she owns a start-up business with her partner (Laurin Khasandi) in the events world and themed party supplies, which is in Nairobi Kenya. In addition, Faith holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with IT, from Maseno University and a Masters in Sociology (In progress) at The University of Nairobi. Faith hopes to be human enough to make meaningful impacts to not only the less fortunate but also those close to her. This she can achieve by running successful businesses thereby creating employment opportunities and in the end help in reducing poverty levels.

Tell us a little about your background and how you came to start Showers of blessings

I have some educational background in business and my mom is an amazing businessperson. I have tried my hand in a couple of businesses here and there but at times left them on the way because maybe I could not really handle being employed and being an entrepreneur. So, for Showers of Blessings, my partner and I wanted to invest in a business that both of us have passion in and that is why we settled on events (selling accessories and planning).

We are both artistic and therefore love what we do especially when we are able to create unique things and deliver to the customer beyond expectations. We are trying to put up systems in place to ensure there is business continuity even when both of us are engaged and cannot fully attend to the business.

What does the business do?

Showers Of Blessings is an events company that provides services and sells accessories for all themed parties/events. It is as simple as that. We make your occasion colourful and memorable!

What would you consider as your most significant accomplishment so far?

Being able to give back to the community in the simplest form and manner that eventually creates the most significant impacts. We have a group called “Ray of Light” with a couple of friends that we contribute on a monthly basis and visit different children’s homes.

Have you experienced any challenges running this business as a woman?

The only challenge I would say is having to multitask. At times, it is very involving but we women are made strong like that.

What is next for Showers Of Blessings?

We plan on opening branches around the country and diversify into other fields of business not necessarily in the events world.

Any advice for Women who would want to pursue this kind of venture?

God, passion and hard work. You need to be differentiated. Do not copy somebody else but work on your own brand something you personally believe in. At times, especially when you start it will seem very hard or impossible but it is not time to let your guard down. Fight until you feel you cannot do it anymore. Change how and what you do if you have to and eventually when the time is right, you will have your break.
